Designed specifically for supreme performance on the racetrack, the Yamaha R1M is equipped with highly sophisticated electronic control technologies that enable you to push even harder and discover your true potential.
R HISTORY. YOUR FUTURE.
Yamaha has created the race-focused R1M using some of the most sophisticated technology developed from the race-winning M1 MotoGP bike. Its state-of-the-art Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) with NPX anti-cavitation gas front forks bring out your best performance at every circuit – and the low frontal area carbon bodywork helps to shave your lap times.
But what really makes the R1M such a game-changer are the high-tech rider aids including Brake Control, Engine Brake Management and Launch Control – as well as a Communication Control Unit for datalogging and wireless engine tuning. Featuring full black rims, carbon body panels as well as black/silver tank colouring and latest graphics, the R1M is the ultimate R-Series delivering the most complete racetrack package.
Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension
The Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) is the most sophisticated suspension system available on a production Yamaha. Its advanced software enables you to corner, brake and accelerate more efficiently, and its user-friendly interface allows you to make rapid suspension setting changes to suit different tracks and surface conditions.
Öhlins NPX anti-cavitation gas forks
For enhanced surface feedback with more consistent damping performance, the R1M is equipped with high-tech Öhlins NPX gas forks. A small gas chamber in the fork axle brackets exert 0.6 Mpa of internal pressure to reduce cavitation on the rebound stroke. This enables the damping system to work more effectively, giving you accurate feel with increased control.
Brake Control (BC) system
On the race track you need precision control in every situation if you're going to get your lap times down. Featuring two modes, the R1M's Brake Control (BC) system analyses data, such as lean angle and slipping acceleration and instantly modulates hydraulic brake pressure, to prevent wheel lock ups for a smoother and faster lap.
998cc crossplane engine
Developed using M1 MotoGP technology, the 998cc engine features Bosch injectors that deliver a wide spray angle for increased efficiency. Specially designed finger-follower rocker arms and cam lobes give outstanding high rpm performance – and this EU5 crossplane engine also features a high efficiency lubrication system for optimum performance.
Ride-by-wire APSG throttle
The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) is activated by a high-tech twistgrip assembly that gives a natural feeling for precise control. Featuring a spring, slider and gear that give a smooth and progressive feel, the lightweight ride-by-wire APSG (Accelerator Position Sensor Grip) twistgrip gives instant throttle response.
Launch Control (LCS) system
By using data from a wide range of sensors, the R1M's Launch Control System (LCS) gives you a high level of control during racing starts. For the fastest and most aggressive launches, LCS1 mode is programmed to activate at 9,000 rpm with a throttle opening of 41 degrees.
Bridgestone Battlax RS11 tyres
Whether you're accelerating aggressively, braking hard or banking over at full lean angle, you need to have total confidence in your tyres. Featuring a race-developed pattern together with a special compound, the Bridgestone Battlax Racing Street RS11 tyres – with a 200 section rear – give you the highest levels of traction combined with outstanding feel.
Exclusive CCU enables wireless tuning
The R1M's exclusive Communication Control Unit (CCU) has a data logging function that allows you to record a wide range of running data, including lap times, speed, throttle position, GPS tracking, lean angle and more. It can also be used to communicate with the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) system when viewing, downloading or changing the running modes.
6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
Equipped with an accelerometer as well as a gyro and G-force sensor that measure pitch, roll and yaw, the sophisticated 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) delivers precise running information to the ECU – 125 times per second. This data enables the ECU to operate the electronic rider aids and maintain the highest levels of machine control for reduced lap times.
High-tech electronic control features
Every time that you ride your R1M, you can be confident that its advanced electronic control technologies are working with you all the way to achieve the highest level of engine and chassis controllability. With ERS, QSS, Lift Control, Launch Control, Slide Control, Brake Control and Engine Brake Management, you're able to choose the right set up for any given situation.
